Pontecorvo

Pontecorvo is a city in the province of Frosinone located in the Valle del Liri in southern Lazio.

World War II brought death and destruction: on 1 November 1943, Pontecorvo was bombed, many citizens died and the city was destroyed. The bridge was the target of various raids, but in the end, it did not suffer serious damage. When the Allies crossed the Gustav Line, the German fortified a new front, the Hitler Line, which passed through Pontecorvo. The remains of German bunkers can still be found in the rural areas.
