Minturno

The city of Minturno is nestled on the coastal and southern foothills of the Aurunci Mountains. Its beaches are wet by the Tyrrhenian Sea in the gulf of Gaeta and push south all the way to the mouth of the Garigliano. The main part of the populated area continuously extends from the medieval hill of Traetto (Minturno today) to the coastal locations of Scauri and Marina di Minturno. The Ausente river flows along the city border with Santi Cosma e Damiano. The town is located along the railway line Rome-Formia-Naples with its own station (Minturno-Scauri Station). The ancient city of Minturnae was located on the right bank of the Garigliano.
